Welcome!  I’m Marianne Sawford, an experienced teacher and tutor, based in Haywards Heath, West Sussex.

If you and your child or teen have decided that you would like to work with a tutor, I have a wealth of experience to offer you.

 

I have a relaxed and friendly approach and understand how important it is for children and young people to feel at ease in order to learn effectively.

 

As an experienced primary school teacher, and tutor of students of Key Stages 1,2, 3 and 4 (GCSE), I fully understand the importance of a consistent approach, between home and school, but I am also able to offer a fresh perspective and some new, individually-tailored ways of learning where needed.

 

Maybe your child or teen would like to simply boost his or her confidence in a particular topic, or subject area such as spelling or mental calculations, or perhaps they would like some unhurried time to consolidate what they have covered in school.

 

Would your child benefit from a varied approach to learning some of the basic concepts they have perhaps previously found difficult?  I can offer a variety of activities and games where appropriate, and will always tailor my approach to your child’s individual needs.

 

Does your child or teen lack motivation in one area of learning, such as writing?  I can work with them to find interesting and purposeful opportunities for writing and developing their skills, confidence and enjoyment.

 

Your child or teen may be working towards a particular test or exam, and benefit from tuition on exam technique as well as subject content revision.

 

I am more than happy to take an interest-led, project-based approach with both home-educated and school/college students if this is what you would like.
